New Delhi, August 16, 2025:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects in the national capital on Sunday, aimed at easing traffic congestion and boosting connectivity across Delhi-NCR. The launch event is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. in Rohini, where the Prime Minister will also address the public.
Key Projects Being Inaugurated
1. Dwarka Expressway – Delhi Section
Length: 10.1 km
Cost: Approx. ₹5,360 crore
Route: Shiv Murti intersection → Dwarka Sector-21 → Delhi-Haryana border
Benefits: Provides multi-modal connectivity to Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, DMRC Blue and Orange Metro lines, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and Dwarka bus depot.
Background: The Haryana section of the expressway (19 km) was opened in March 2024.
2. Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)
Stretch: Alipur to Dichaon Kalan, with links to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat
Cost: Around ₹5,580 crore
Impact: Expected to decongest major choke points like Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09. It will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, easing movement of goods and strengthening industrial connectivity in NCR.

Significant reduction in travel time within Delhi
Smoother road and goods transport across NCR
Better linkages between highways, metro lines, and new transport hubs
Support to the government’s larger vision of developing world-class infrastructure and enhancing ease of living in the capital region.
These projects collectively represent a major investment of nearly ₹11,000 crore and are expected to transform road infrastructure and mobility in and around Delhi.
