India-US Trade Deal Talks May Be Delayed Amid Tariff Dispute

The upcoming round of trade negotiations between India and the United States may be postponed, as the visiting US delegation is expected to reschedule its trip to New Delhi. The talks, which aim to finalize a bilateral trade agreement, were initially planned from August 25 to 29, 2025.

The US has been urging India to open its agriculture and dairy markets, but Indian authorities have declined, citing potential risks to small farmers and cattle rearers. Despite the tensions, bilateral trade between the two countries grew by over 21% to USD 33.5 billion during April–July 2025.

This marks the sixth round of discussions on the trade agreement, which has already gone through five rounds of negotiation. Officials indicated that new dates for the meetings would be announced later.
